Plagiarism is alive and kicking on the ‘netz.

So, this started off with a simple tweet. @mike9r was telling the world about a great resource he found. Someone had spent hours sifting thru logos and posted about their favorite 50 logos on their site. Mind you, a site that was seeking people to advertise on their site. Well, another designer was curious. Since it sounded alot like their post. And gee, wouldn’t you know it was EXACT!! This is where I got involved, I saw @adellecharles post about how it was her post. This kind of gnawed at me. I even twittered out to avoid the website. So, after watching a surprising episode of LOST, no I won’t spoil the surprise for you, I did a bit of digging.
delimitdesign.com has stolen a few other articles:
“35+ Excellent Social Media Tools That Make Life Easier” was posted on the thief’s site November 19, 2008. Yet, freelancefolder did the same write up just 5 days before. Jest Staffel even dugg the article. I also noticed he dugg the original article that got me involved in this investigation.
Original of 50+ Kick Ass Logos was on Fuel Your Creativity, and stolen here.
50 Websites For Free Vector Images Download was originally done on Hongkiat and stolen here.
He even had the audacity to rip off Smashing Magazine with 100 Excellent Wordpress Themes, with the stolen page here.
I think we need to get the word out on this sham artist, and make sure if you catch someone, get the word out. I procrastinate very much on this blog, I admit. It’s because it takes a lot of hard work to pump out quality blogs, especially for fellow designers. If you are inspired or something, post a link. But you NEVER TAKE CREDIT FOR WORK YOU DID NOT DO!!

Didn’t even have the brains to at least change the wording.
I’m a fan of all the design websites and resources, so I’ll make sure I’ll steer clear of that site.
Thanks for posting, will pass it on.

Thanks for posting this. I can definitely identify with
) but I’d never even think of ripping off somebody else’s content.
“I procrastinate very much on this blog, I admit. It’s because it takes a lot of hard work to pump out quality blogs” (mind the quotes
Good job on calling them out.

He actually took the time to copy/save every image on that Smashing 100 list. If he took the time/energy used in copying SM work he could have put it to use on creating his own list of 25+.
Delimitdesign is blacklisted in my book.

why don’t we just take down is site? I’m willing to dedicate 1 or 2 zombies if you are. 4-5 machine should be more than enough to him shutdown.

Thanks guys and gals, for helping get the word out. Greg, I’m not exactly a follower of the Black Hat, and I’m not going to be one to condone such behavior. I’d rather ostracize the individual, so he learns and so do any future plagiarists.

Can’t believe this happens everyday. Just this week I heard a few stories from a few designers on twitter about their work or posts being copied on another portfolio or site.
Lame!

Lists. I think that site was able to get away with it for so long because we see so many list posts from many sources that they become generalized enough to fit any blog. I see list posts and forget them as soon as I grab the next one.
Let’s make specific content that sounds like it came from a professional designer so we’ll be able to spot the crooks quicker next time.
Sean, best of luck in your job hunt my friend.

Thanks guys, for helping get the word out. And John, thanks for the encouragement. It’s a scary time these days, and the field of advertising is taking a bad hit. I have hope tho, if the senators who were so willing to spend American tax dollars and even allow alot of it to disappear, they will hopefully decide it’s okay to invest the same money in our own country to get things moving again. sorry, I gotta stop letting the political side of me come out. But, I am hopeful things will get better some day, hopefully sooner than later.
